  • Swedish massage: Swedish massage techniques is one of the most popular and effective massage techniques administered by a massage therapist. This technique helps increase circulation and aims to help you relax.

  • Myofascial release: This technique focuses on the fascia of the body(fascia is what is found between your skin and bone/muscle). By focusing on the fascia the therapists are able to improve muscular balance and decrease muscle tension|

  • Muscle Kneading: This technique uses rhythmic movements with specific pressure applied to the structures of the body to help elicit a relaxation response from the body

  • Trigger point therapy: In trigger point therapy our therapists will find areas of the body which are tender and also referred to as knots. By applying this pressure it will create a physiological response to help decrease how tense and tender your muscles are.

  • Longitudinal Glide: This is one of the more basic massage techniques, however it also very effective. This type of massage technique is used more for relaxation massages.

  • PNF stretching: In this technique, the massage therapist will use scientific methods to help stretch your muscles and increase your range of motion.

What are the qualifications of massage therapists?

This means that every therapist at our clinic has completed all of the in-depth training and education that is required to practice in Ontario. As a healthcare practitioner owned facility we make sure that all massage therapists meet the stringent and strict criteria to be a provider at The Yorkville Sports Medicine Clinic. Do I need Doctor's note to get a massage?

No, you do not require a physicians note to receive a massage at our clinic. However, some insurance companies and extended health care providers may require this for reimbursement, and we would be happy to check for you.
