What is pelvic floor dysfunction?
Pelvic floor dysfunction is a term used to describe the inability of the muscles in the pelvic floor to relax completely. This means that there can be trouble passing stools, urine and gas. It can cause an overactive bladder that leads to urgency, frequency and incontinence. A weak plevic floor can also cause prolapse or bulging at the vagina, uterus or rectum. A physiotherapist trained in pelvic floor health can help you with your symptoms, whether it's pain, incontinence or prolapse.
